Cultivated Cordyceps
Cultivated Cordyceps sinensis
Cultivated Cordyceps sinensis is grown under controlled conditions from the same species that is collected wild on the Tibetan Plateau. It is sold as whole dried pieces, graded by size, at a lower price per gram than wild cordyceps. This collection is where to buy cordyceps online in the United States at a published per-gram price.
Cultivated or wild?
- Cultivated — consistent size, lower price, suited to daily use in tea, soup or congee.
- Wild (Nagqu, Tibet) — hand-collected, limited supply, priced by grade and size. See the wild cordyceps collection.

Common questions
How much does cordyceps cost?
Each product shows its price and weight; the per-gram cost is the price divided by the gram weight on the label. Cultivated pieces cost less per gram than wild.
Is this Chinese cordyceps?
Cordyceps sinensis is the species traditionally traded in China and Tibet, where it is called dong chong xia cao. Our cultivated cordyceps is this species.
Is cordyceps edible?
Yes. It is usually simmered in soup, steeped as tea or added to congee rather than eaten raw.
How should I store it?
Keep dried cordyceps sealed, cool and dry, away from light.
